Dear Koda

Dear Koda,

Suddenly there you were at the airport in the Netherlands. A celebration for us, though for you it must have been rather unclear where you had ended up. Before that you were in Canada with dear Michelle and your mum and dad. All your sisters and your brother had already left, but you were not yet old enough to fly.

The True Northern Inuit kennel in Canada is where you came from. You had six sisters and one brother. You were all cared for with a great deal of love, and we were lucky enough to be able to choose you.

It was quite a journey, but it matters enormously to us that when you are grown up and ready to date, you find a match who suits you well. And it helps a great deal to look further than the end of your snout.

Together with Neo, your Czechoslovakian Wolfdog, you now live in beautiful Arnhem. Right by the woods, with a lovely garden. Later, when your sons and daughters arrive, they will grow up in the house, the garden and the forest. And sometimes, when we are feeling brave, at grandma's by the sea.

Your breed is known for its health and for many years of wonderful company.

If I had to describe your character, you are patient, sweet, cheerful and playful. With other dogs you are a star — so tolerant, and so funny.

If I had to describe your appearance, you are strong, fast and elegant.

We cannot wait for a gang of mini-Kodas to come sliding across the floor. But we will wait, so that you can first enjoy being a puppy, an adolescent and a grown-up lady.
